PTI MIM #323: Cascading Die Cuts
5/19/18
Stephanie treats us to a simple technique that creates a cool
effect for this weeks PTI MIM challenge! I like her method of
making use of both the positive and the negative from die cuts. I used Lizzy's Forest Floor: Summer set to try Stephanie's challenge and am happy with the results. I also
tried Stephanie's idea of wetting her seam binding and smooshing it to get that wrinkled look. It worked great on my
seam binding bow ends...the ends always get in the way and block my sentiment (not this time). :) BTW, I forgot to bend
my strawberries/leaves up a bit to give dimension. They are just adhered at the stems. Looks even better when you do this. I'll have to give Stephanie's technique another "go!"
Supplies: PTI Forest Floor: Summer, Hexagon stencil, PTI Dye Ink (Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Spring Rain, Soft Stone, Harvest Gold), Copic Sketch,

PTI Transformation Tuesday
5/27/18
This weeks Transformation Tuesday is hosted by Laurie
Schmidlin. She transforms her fall-ish card into a spring one
by changing up the background and flowers to lighter colors.
I have selected a card from February 2017 that I made for
PTI's 10th Anniversary celebration. The card that I CAS-ed
was one by Debbie Olson where she used Beautiful Blooms
II and a color palette of Aqua Mist/Hawaiian Shores/Spring
Rain. I never much liked my tone-on-tone Bloomers flowers
as I feel like they really don't stand out. I still don't own the
floral set that Debbie used, but decided to go with a MFT
floral set that is similar. I am happier with my new card as I
feel like I've accomplished the light and airy feeling that I get
from Debbie's original card.
Supplies: MFT Bold Blossoms, PTI Never Enough Birthday (sentiment), Mix & Mat: Scallops, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Die, PTI Dye Ink (Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, Green Parakeet, New Leaf), PTI Aqua Mist/Stamper's Select White CS,
PTI Vintage Buttons (Aqua Mist), linen twine.

PTI May 2018 Blog Hop
5/25/18
I decided to start making my Father's Day cards after seeing
the trailer and the black/white gingham tablecloths in the
inspiration photo. I made my gingham using the plaid builder
stencils and found a trailer stamp from an older Lawn Fawn set.
I wanted to incorporate the beautiful flower arrangements on the
tables. Decided to bring in the colors and added flowers from
Fence Line Spring. Masculine cards are difficult to create...but
I think I pulled this one off (??!!). One down...three to go (ugh).
Have fun blog hopping! :)
Supplies: PTI Fence Line Spring, Plaid Builder stencil set, Shape Shifters: Square 1 Die,
PTI Dye Ink (Hibiscus Burst, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Spring Rain), MFT
Dye Ink (Ripe Raspberry, Purple Rain), Lawn Fawn Happy Trails/Happy, Happy, Happy,
Distress Oxide Ink (hickory smoke, black soot), Stickles, silver sequins, black organza
ribbon, Copic Sketch.

PTI MIM #322: Above & Below
5/23/18
Lizzie challenges us in this weeks MIM to frame a sentiment
above and below with stamped images thereby making the
sentiment take center stage. I have chosen to play with Betsy's new Seasonal Borders: Summer to do the job. This
is a FUN set and comes out beautifully with all the layers
down (easier than I initially thought). Here's my take:
Supplies: PTI Seasonal Borders: Summer, Birthday Bash Sentiments, PTI Dye Ink (Pale
Peony, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Spring Moss,
Ripe Avocado, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure), Distress Oxide Ink (broken china, twisted citron), Stickles (crystal), Wink of Stella (red).

PTI Create Along With Us: May 2018
5/14/18
I have selected a colorful tropical floral card by Betsy
for my CAS. I was interested in her background created
by sponging ink and then dragging a wet brush across
it. This blends the inks and creates brush strokes. Don't
know if I did it right but the look is similar to Betsy's. I
worked with her color palette which is out of my comfort
zone of usually reaching for cool colors. Here's my result:
Supplies: PTI Some Like It Hot, Ways to Say: Hello, MFT Tropical Flowers, Die-namics Stitched Rectangle STAX 2, PTI Dye Ink (Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Scarlet Jewel, Cocoa Bean), Pretty Pink Posh (sparkling clear jewels).

MFT WSC #384, Layton's Legacy Card Drive
5/9/18
I have combined MFT WSC #384 with Layton's Legacy Card Drive. I chose to work with the color palette for my Layton's Legacy card. I hope my card will put a smile on someone in need...my heart goes out to all those who have very sick little ones.

PTI MIM #221: Masking Sentiments
5/7/18
Here we are on another Monday and Ashley is our host for
today's MIM! She challenges us to use sentiment masks some
where within our card designs. This is a great way to keep our
cards "flat" (perfect for the snail mail); although I have a habit
of glitzing up my card with sequins/other embellishments. ;)
Supplies: PTI Strawberry Patch, Stitch in Time Borders, Never Enough Birthday, Noted:
Scalloped A2 Vertical Die, PTI Dye Ink (Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Stormy Sea), Copic
Sketch, misc. sequins/water droplets, twine.

PTI Transformation Tuesday #7 with Keeway Tsao
5/6/18
My first stab at the Transformation Tuesday challenge...that I was not
aware of until last week. I chose a butterfly card that I had made with
a cover panel to transform back in January 2017. Mainly, I wanted to use my new Butterfly Folk set. I sponged ink on the butterfly stamps, spritzed with some water and stamped them on watercolor paper. This created a muted effect with the details of the butterfly. The butterflies are not as distinct as the die-cut panel, but I like how the card came out. :)
