PTI MIM #292: Color Blocking Three Ways

7/29/17
Just returned from a week trip up north to Monterey and a visit to my brother and sister-in-law's home in Hillsborough. I thought I would create a thank you card to send to them for putting us up for a few days. Laurie has some great ideas for color blocking for this weeks MIM. I selected her 3 color inking on a stamp block. I was quite surprised how easy this method is with stunning results. I was happy to try out some of the new July release PTI products (finally arrived via snail mail).  :)

Supplies: PTI Stemmed Statements, Mix & Mat: Postal Die, PTI dye ink: Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Green Parakeet, Aqua Mist cardstock.     Misc: Cuttlebug embossing folder, white embossing powder, MFT water droplets.

PTI MIM: Emboss Resist Shadow Sentiments

7/18/17
Ashely hosts this weeks MIM at PTI with her emboss-resist shadow sentiments challenge. I love her cute watermelon Pool Party invite! And her technique is just perfect to highlight PARTY. I don't own any large sentiment stamps but found that Ashley's technique works fine on smaller "bold" stamps as well. I selected the Colorful Treats stamp set to use and yes, there REALLY is a rainbow cake like the one I've colored. It is from King's Hawaiian bakery and is called the Paradise Cake. This cake is absolutely wonderful (light even tho it looks rich) and makes my mouth drool just thinking about it. TFL and hope you are enjoying the summer. ;)

Supplies: PTI: Color Treats, Mix & Mat: Scallops, Aqua Mist cardstock.
Misc: Peerless watercolors, Kuretake Zig Clean Color, Copic Opaque White.

PTI Blog Hop, July 2017

7/17/17

Even tho the PTI Blog Hop isn't until 7/25/17, I am posting
today because I will be away next week. Nichole gives us
such a pretty inspiration photo this month off a wedding
site. I love the colors and softness in the photo. I tried to
replicate this in my card creation...using a combination of
watercolors (background) and ink blending with my sponge
tool. I don't have the postal stamp die yet that is from the
July 2017 release. Made my own with an old EK Success
postal stamp border punch. I added the "gold" touch using
Nuvo Gilding Flakes (so much fun to play with) to cover the
outline of the cloche. Enjoy the July Blog Hop and TFL! :)

Supplies: PTI Cloche Quarters, Cloche Quarters Spring Fillers, Mix & Mat: Flourishes, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical die.     PTI dye ink: Spring Rain, Tropical Teal, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Lavender Moon, Autumn Rose, Stormy Sea.     PTI re-inker: Spring Rain.     Misc: Nuvo Gilding Flakes (gold), EK Success border punch (postage stamp), Paper Source cardstock (Bluebell).

PTI Create Along with Us, July 2017

7/11/17 ** It's that time of the month again for the
release week challenge! I have chosen to CAS a
sweet card by Michelle Leone. She uses a partial
stamped background and combines it with the
sweet little bird from the July release plus a few
flowers. Here's my take.

Supplies: PTI Winter Woods, PTI dye ink: Blueberry
Sky, Pure Poppy, Cocoa Bean.
Misc: MFT Framework Background, Kuretake Water
Colors, Kuretake Clean Color, Nuvo Gilding Flakes (gold).

7/6/17 ** Time for MFT Wednesday sketch challenge! I played with my Kuretake watercolors for the background.
The Pure Innocence girl was also watercolored using Kuretake Clean Colors. I found that they do not blend as well as Copic markers (creates a different look). Finished off the background with some VersaMark ink and flowers/leaves from Tweet Wishes.

Supplies: MFT Pure Innocence: Spring Friends, Tweet Wishes, Wonky Stitched Circle die, MFT Grid 6x6 PP.
PTI ways to say: hello (sentiment).     Misc: Kuretake Watercolor, Kuretake Clean Color, VersaMark.

PTI MIM #290: Combining Stenciling and Masking

7/4/17 ** Happy 4th of July!! Nothing better to do today but
to take Betsy's MIM challenge where she combines stenciling
and masking techniques. I have not purchased her Herb
Garden mini kit and made my own deckled stencil from
cardstock and an old Spellbinders deckled rectangle die. It worked just fine tho a bit on the small side...a couple of mats took care of that problem. I wanted to embellish but decided to keep the card one layer as Betsy's (except for the butterfly and bit of white organza ribbon). TFL and happy BBQ! ;)

Supplies: PTI Garden Party, Ways to say: hello, Mix & Mat: Scallops, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical die, Aqua Mist cardstock.     Dye inks: Aqua Mist, Mint Julep, Lavender Moon, Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, WinterWisteria, Amethyst Allure, Plum Pudding, Green Parakeet, Ripe Avocado.     Misc: MFT Adorable Elephants (butterfly), Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangles, Copic Sketch.
