MFT Blueprints Challenge

9/19/17 * Peek-a-Boo Elements
I had too much fun coloring up the adorable Birdie Brown
Witch and had to put her into a special card. So I decided
to go again with Blueprints 28 (I only own 2 Blueprint sets)
and try my hand again at Stephanie Klauck's idea of making a slider card with this die. The first time I made Stephanie's card, I did not put a track
into the card and the pull tab goes wonky when you pull it up. I am happy to say that
placing a chipboard track under the frame keeps that pull tab in line! And of course, I
had to add that quirky frog and a pumpkin under the tab. You cannot get dimensional
at all with the image under the tab as this would interfere with the opening/closure mechanism of the tab. So I inlaid the two images and that solves the problem. "Practice Makes Perfect!" :)

Supplies: MFT Blueprints 7/28, Witch Way is the Candy, Interactive Labels, Copic Sketch,
Distress Oxide (faded jeans), Distress Ink (dusty concord), Copic Opaque White.

MFTWSC#350, MFT Color Challenge 77

Supplies: MFT Bitty Bears, Welcome Baby, Framework
Background, Wonky Stitch Circle STAX, Blueprints 28,
Distress Ink (spun sugar, tumbled glass, chipped sapphire),
Derwent Watercolor pencils.

I made this card for our daughter #2 who is expecting her
first in December (a girl)! This will be our 5th grandchild
and our 4th granddaughter. :)   The color combo called to
me to make a baby card. What better MFT set to create
the card than with those cute Bitty Bears?!!

PTI Create Along with Us, September 2017

I have selected one of Nicole's gorgeous Christmas cards in
which to CAS! I love her colors she used with the aqua/pink and gold embellishments. Of course, I don't have PTI's newest ornament set...yet. I put together a similar look with what I have in my stash.

Supplies: PTI Holiday Greens, Beautiful Berries Autumn,
Tinsel & Tags Sprigs, Christmas Critters Sentiments,
Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments, Lawn Fawn Mini Wreath, Stampin' Up Basic Pearl, 4mm sparkling clear sequins, PTI Dye Ink (New Leaf, Pinefeather, Pure Poppy,
Scarlet Jewel, Cocoa Bean, Pale Peony, Sweet Blush,
Berry Sorbet), Stampendous silver embossing powder, Wink
of Stella (Clear).

MFT 2017 Card Design Superstar

2017 Card Design Superstar: Clean & Simple Genius

Supplies: MFT Modern Trees, Bitty Bears (sentiment), Stitched Collage Frame, MFT Dye Ink (Daffodil), PTI Dye
Ink (New Leaf, Poppy Red), MFT Black & White Basics PP.

My interpretation of this category is a design that is "graphically" clean and simple which lead me to create the card I did. I used the new MFT Modern Trees set and followed the seasons leading to winter. The trees are framed by cutting apart the Stitched Collage Frame and layering each one 3 times for some dimension. I placed a gold sequin star atop the winter tree portraying a Christmas tree. I wanted to place one tiny red ornament on the tree, but did not have one by MFT.    As the saying goes for this category..."less is more."

Actually, the "Blessed" card was my first try at this category. I used the Fab Foliage dies
on some Watercolor Wash PP...lined the leaves up in a circle and placed Pointsettias from
Cozy Mittens around the wreath. The "Blessed" word was die-cut 3 times and layered; then
dusted with some Perfect Pearls (Pearl). I added a few red sequins for some berries. The
wreath is framed with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame dies. I am
happy with the end result of this card but it did not seem to fit the criteria for the category
as well.

MFT 2017 Card Design Superstar

2017 Card Design Superstar: Innovation Master

Supplies: MFT Up in the Air, Interactive Labels, Blueprints #7/28, Stitched Basic Edges, Mini Cloud Edges stencil, Watercolor Wash PP, PTI Dye Ink (Spring Rain, Green Parakeet, New Leaf), Zig Clean Color, Copic Sketch, Staz-On (Jet Black), clear cardstock.

My card is made from a fun technique I learned from Lizzie Jones at Papertrey Ink. It is a form of slider card. The usual rectangle die I use to cut the interactive part of this card is not by MFT.  The entire piece was cut by hand. I also learned that layering  does not work well for creating a flawless card using this technique. Despite the glitches I ran into...I managed to pull off the card. It is a fun one to play with after the labor of creation and reminds me of stained glass.

MFT 2017 Card Design

Color Virtuoso
In my card, I used ink blending (background sky) and water
colors (both Zig Clean Color and Kuretake Pearl Colors)
for the color criteria of this category. I love the effect of
"Northern Lights" that I can achieve thru ink blending. Stars
were added with small splatters of Copic Opaque White along
with some water spritzing. The Beach Scene Builder works great for creating snow scenes
(besides beach scenes); thus the ice and snowbank that grounds my polar bear on ice
skates. This card was a joy to make combining many techniques that I've learned from
MFT. Thank you MFT!!

Supplies: MFT Polar Bear Pals, Beach Scene Builder, Bear Big Adventure dies, Cozy
Mittens (sentiment), Black & White Basics PP, Sparkling Clear sequins, Zig Clean Color,
Kuretake Pear Colors, Distress Ink (chipped sapphire, dusty concord, picked raspberry,
squeezed lemonade), Distress Oxide (faded jeans), Copic Opaque White, DecoColor
Opaque Paint Marker (Liquid Silver).

Supplies: MFT Happy Hedgehogs, Slanted Sentiment
Strips, Vertical 2-window Stitched Frame die, Zig Clean
Color, Versamark, PTI autumn scarecrow (sentiment).

What better way to welcome Fall than with MFT's Happy
Hedgehogs (one of my favorite sets)! My background is blended
watercolors from the Zig markers (as well as the coloring of
my hedgehog/log). I also made my own patterned paper thru
stamping 5 of the smaller images from the set with VersaMark
onto Kraft cardstock. Yes, I am waiting for Fall...and hopefully,
cooler weather!??
