4/28/17 ** Here is the current MFT Wednesday sketch. I do enjoy creating cards that put a smile on my face! The two kitties represent my kitties and I colored as such with my Copic Sketch. I also used a We R memory keepers embossing folder for the background. TFL and have a wonderful day!
4/25/17 ** Watercolor backgrounds using stencils is Betsy's challenge for us for this weeks MIM at PTI. Of course, she is a master at card creations and always manages to select just the right colors. I've made 2 cards for this challenge. My African Violets are in bloom and I wanted to capture them in a card tho' I have no stamps that actually represent the violets. I drew from 3 stamp sets to pull together my blooms (PTI bloom and GROW, Color Pop Florals, and MFT Bold Blooms). They sort of look like my violets...at least in color. Dye inks used for this card: Lilac Grace, Winter Wisteria, Spring Rain, New Leaf, Green Parakeet, Amethyst Allure, Royal Velvet I played with another color combination of watercolors (Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky) using the same stencil by TCW and the result reminded me of a snowy background. To switch out the focus on florals, I selected Nicole's Warmest Wishes...just can't get enough of that cute polar bear. TFL and have fun with the challenge!
4/25/17 ** So here we are again for PTI's April Blog Hop (2017 is moving right along). I had a difficult time with Nicole's choice for our inspiration. The pattern is retro and the colors are not my choice, but it is good to work out of one's comfort zone periodically. I toned the color combo down adding just a few florals and made the grey and soft pink my background. Happy Blog Hopping and thanks for stopping by! Supplies: PTI Some Like It Hot, Ways to Say: thank you, Mix & Mat Flourishes die. PTI dye inks: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Orange Zest, Harvest Gold, Soft Stone, Stormy Sea. PTI cardstock (Sweet Blush). Misc: ColorMates Medium Morning Mist, Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles, Die-namics stitched oval word window.
4/20/17 ** Here's my take on RC's SFYTT for this month. Happy to try All About Ewe stamp set out on the sketch. It's a cutie!! ;) I embossed the ewe on black cardstock; stamped it again on white and paper-pieced the white into my black ewe for the two-tone effect. My background was sponged with 3 shades of green and then spritzed with some water to add interest. TFL!
4/20/17 ** Been wanting to play with MFT Bundle of Baby Clothes and Welcome Baby! I turned the sketch horizontally and it worked great with a couple of tweaks. I used Die-namics stitched rectangle scallop edge frame for my background. This is the first time I've created a card with dies alone (except for the stamped sentiment)... quite refreshing.
4/18/17 ** Dawn hosts this weeks MIM at PTI with her simple but effective technique of placing a sponged stencil background behind a die-cut window. Love the delicate background created by this method...a perfect place to ground some pretty florals. I tried using Betsy's Bloom & Grow florals but they were a bit too small and I couldn't get the right balance. I ended up using MFT Bold Blooms which fit perfectly in the spaces I had intended to embellish. I have a retirement dinner to attend this Friday for a hygienist in the office where I work...so this card is intended for her.
Supplies: PTI Banner Style, Double Ups: Rectangles die. PTI dye inks: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Honey Nut, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky. PTI cardstock (Linen, Spring Moss). Misc: MFT Bold Blooms, Prima stencil (raindrops). **TFL and have a great week!
4/14/17 ** Here is the sketch challenge this week at MFT. I used MFT Tweet Wishes. I pulled out my Prismacolor pencils again to add color to my stamped images. There are so many companies now that put out colored pencils, but I stand by Prismacolors. I believe they still are the best for blending and vibrant colors. Also used MFT Graphic Grid paper pad, Cloud 9 dies and Lawn Fawn small stitched rectangle dies. My background was sponged with PTI Blueberry Sky and Spring Moss dye inks. I finished off my owl by using Glossy Accents on his eyes. I am entering my card for MFT Thursday Color Challenge as well. Sorry, just had to add a bit of green even tho' it isn't in the color scheme. TFL and Happy Easter!
3/12/17 ** PTI's April release Create Along With Us is in full swing! There are so many wonderful samples showcasing the new products. I have selected Nichole's simple but beautiful lavender card where she used Betsy's Mix and Mat: Scallops die for my inspiration. We are throwing a baby shower this weekend for our daughter #3 and I wanted to make her a baby shower card. I also haven't had the pleasure of using my Cutaway Tags: Spring die. My card front seemed a bit plain so I was happy to add something cute inside. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the release!
4/7/17 ** Here is my take on this week's MFT Wednesday sketch challenge. I used MFT Pure Innocence Spring Friends, Wonky Stitched circles and Radiating Rays stencil. My circle came out larger than in the sketch in order to accommodate the PI figure. This sketch is rather busy so I tried to keep it simple (??).
4/5/17 ** Lexi has a fun idea for this weeks MIM. She uses a smaller background and creates her focal stamped image larger so that it extends beyond the background (simple but effective). I was itching to try my new shipment (finally) of goodies from PTI! I selected Betsy's Bloom & Grow mini kit/Mix & Mat: Flourishes die to create my card for the challenge. My inspiration comes from one of Betsy's sample for her kit tho I changed it up a bit. I wanted the slanted fill in the die to be brown to mimic a basket background. The blooms in this set are so much fun to play with. My sentiment comes from Lawn Fawn's Happy, Happy, Happy. I did not use a stamped background so my card is more like Lexi's first card with a physical matted square. TFL and thanks for your comments! ;)
