12/26/17 A beautiful heart floral is our inspiration for the December 2017 Blog Hop! I tried to mimic the floral creating a heart shaped wreath with tracing from the You Have My Heart die. I embellished the tracing with foliage from Ivy & Bloom and Christmas Faith. I placed the velum heart on top of the foliage and finished up with blooms from Color Pop Florals. The "love" die was cut from a rose gold mirrored cardstock. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the Blog Hop! :)
Supplies: PTI Color Pop Florals, Ivy & Bloom, Christmas Faith, You Have My Heart Die, "love" word die, PTI Dye Ink ( Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Autumn Rose).
12/18/17 Laurie presents a clever idea to create faux stained glass for this weeks MIM. She uses velum behind a cover plate die and then colors some of the die-cut spaces with Copic markers to achieve the stained glass look. I love the look of this technique...tho I lack owning very many cover plates. I used one of Betsy's Mix & Mat dies (Pretty Brackets) to try out Laurie's method. Thought I'd make a Thank You card to use after Christmas. I can't believe I took this challenge...I still have so much to do before Christmas. But I just couldn't resist. :) Supplies: PTI Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets, Gran's Garden, ways to say: thank you, PTI Dye ink (Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony, Scarlet Jewel, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado), Copic Sketch.
12/11/17 Valentine's Day is out in full swing with the December 2017 PTI release and so much inspiration from the DT! I selected one by Laurie Schmidlin to CAS. I think it was the colorful felt hearts with coordinating buttons that caught my attention. I do not have the cover plate hearts so I used an embossing folder instead. Here's my version of Laurie's sweet card:
Supplies: PTI XOXO, Jumping for Joy, PTI Dye Ink (Lovely Lady, Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores), PTI cardstock (Aqua Mist), Cuttlebug EF (hearts), PTI Vintage Buttons Collections.
12/4/17 Betsy has a wonderful technique for us today using a fan brush to create trees! She makes it seem so easy but I struggled a bit. For one thing, my two colors of green re-inkers were too close. So the details of the trees did not show up and became muted together. I'll have to try this method again after I order a Pinefeather re-inker. Any ways, I pretty much "CAS-ed" Betsy's card since I have a bunch of stuff to finish up before Christmas and before our daughter #2 has her baby girl (due 12/22). Supplies: PTI Wonderland kit, ways to say: Merry Christmas, Tag Sale: Quilted Die, MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX 2, MFT BG Snowfall Background, PTI Dye ink (Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, Winter Wisteria, Enchanted Evening), PTI re-Inker (Green Parakeet), Marvy Uchida re-inker (light green).
11/29/17 This weeks MIM at PTI is hosted by Laurie. She has a fun challenge for us involving the use of layers. I love the way her card turned out! Her layered elements really pop against her faux chalkboard background. I chose Snowfall Style stamp set since I love snowflakes and they look so pretty layered. My BG was created with art basics Light Paste on top of the Snowfall Style stencil. I forget how much fun it is to work with this paste and it gives so much texture to the card. I used Window Works die to create a base for my card sentiment and backed the cut out with velum. The snowflakes are from MFT's Layered Snowflake die set. I'm in the mood for some cooler weather (we had high 80's over Thanksgiving). Hopefully, we will have lower temperatures by Christmas. :)
11/25/17 * Handmade Plaid Nichole has selected a traditional Thanksgiving table setting from Grandin Road as our inspiration for this month's Blog Hop. I chose the plaid napkin to work with as a background and embellished it with a couple of pumpkins, fall leaves and a sprig from Autumn Berries. I created my own plaid using a couple of Elemental Stripes by Reverse Confetti and hand coloring where the stripes intersected to make the squares in the plaid. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the November Blog Hop.
11/24/17 Lexi has another MIM challenge using photos but this time making ornaments! These ornaments are simple to make and come out super cute. I made a couple using PTI Brilliant Baubles. A couple of the dies work with a 1.5" circle for a photo. Supplies: PTI Brilliant Baubles, Tinsel & Tags Sprigs Stamp Set, PTI Dye Ink (Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado).
I've selected Melissa's stunning snowflake card to CAS! I instantly fell in love with her delicate card and soft color palette when I saw it. What I realized is that I have many snowflake dies but very few stamp sets. Guess I'll need to add PTI's newest snowflake set to my stash. :) I needed to get this card done quickly since I have a full week coming up. I just noticed that Melissa's card is a popular choice. Supplies: PTI Quilted Winter die, Tinsel & Tags Sprigs die set, Holiday Words die, To the Point Edgers 1, PTI Dye Ink (Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Green Parakeet, Spring Rain), MFT Snowflake Flurry, MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX 2, PTI Sweet Blush cardstock.
11/11/17 Supplies: MFT New Best Friend, Tag Builder Blueprints, MFT Watercolor Wash PP, Cuttlebug EF (Herringbone), Copic Sketch. So hard to make a card not look like Halloween with black, and orange in it. Also had to add googlie eyes to the kitty since I colored him too dark and his normal eyes did not stand out. And I course, I could not leave out the puppy. Both are very cute as is...just have to remember to lighten up on my colors.
Ashley presents ideas for her 2nd Holiday Photo Greeting card for this weeks PTI MIM. She uses Photoshop as a base for the photos and embellishes the card with stamps after. I have taken 2 Photoshop classes but have forgotten how the specifics work without usage. I fumbled around with a photo of my 2 cats (almost impossible to get a photo with the two of them...just like kids) and used some of the tools in Photoshop. I chose to print my photo card on regular cardstock because I like mat finish. After adding some accents from the Wonderland kit, I finished up by adding Nuvo Gilding flakes in silver for borders. It is a good thing that we send the pre-printed photo greeting cards at Christmas. I'd have to start making my Christmas cards in January otherwise.
11/7/17 We Love Dawn Blog Hop After being locked out on the inLinkz and gone over the weekend, I finally had time to create a card for Dawn. I am sorry to hear she has some serious health issues and hope that her current surgery helps her problems. It is so nice to create a card that is not for a challenge and that will actually go to someone! I hope my card will bring some sunshine to Dawn with her recovery.
I do love her style and hope she can continue with PTI when she is able. In the meantime, I wish her the best in a speedy recovery! Keep your chin up Dawn! :)
